CHOOLIPS revamps ancient textiles traditions creating alluring textiles & dresses simply on trend, playful & pretty.

CHOOLIPS’ Designer Annegret Affolderbach is a young ethical fashion entrepreneur with wide-reaching vision. She got captivated by colours and textures, at the age of 7, when studying her mum’s World Atlas filled with pictures of Mexican embroidery and the shores of Mauritius.

Annegret moved from East Germany to London to live and study in the mid 90’s, and in 2003 started up her company CHOOLIPS launching with an initial collection for Petite Women made from Organic and Sustainable fabrics supported by the Prince’s Trust. Her passion for textiles brought to mind the idea to revamp ancient techniques such as Batik without diluting its traditions but rather expanding its potential. The aim was to create on trend textiles to be made into what women desire: dresses. These were to be produced by a local skilled workforce following the Fair Trade model, in the home country of those techniques. The finished products would reflect Annegret’s love for colour, texture and people.

Today CHOOLIPS’ award-winning ethical signature – fairly traded textiles and dresses with cutting edge style – not simply empowers developing communities and flourishes ‘Trade not Aid’ but also brings sunshine to Western Shores.
